Clonking
how come I get a clonk clonk when slowly reversing on full lock? The rack is not that old. It sounds like something is moving then going back.

Take a look at the steering rack mount for looseness and tie rod ends, ball joints and also control arm bushings for movement. Are wheels all tight?

You'll want to do what mytrplseven said. lift up the car so you can see if the wheels will wiggle in any direction. I would guess ball joint at this point.

Thanks for your replies, will be checking again for that noise, and possibilities mentioned, I think I can find a place that would let me use their lift.

You don't need a lift, just a jack and a couple stands. Now, a lift will be easier, but if you *have* the jack, I'd start there.
