Alex...I'm not familar with the other product and went with the Loctite 574...I didn't want to take a chance with my rebuild so I followed the manuals direction...

Is there an advantage to using the Silastic 730 rtv over the Loctite 574.

Thanks mike...

Thats the same question I wanted to know...

When I was at the dealer asking for Bearing quotes they recommend that silastic stuff......... at ~$170 canadian I am pretty sure it must of been a bulk container....

I also read in the manual to use the 574.....so if your block hasn't split in two...........I will do the same

P.S. Thanks on the machine shop.... he said it will be done in a week!!!! and he asked if I thought that would be too long! LOL... it beats the 6-9 months the other schmucks told me.!!

I used on my crankCase Loctite 574 and I recommend it. It was specially made for Porsche.

Loctite 574.

Performance has it for something like $25 (USD) a tube - you can also get it from dealers (don't think Pelican sells it)

No problem Alex...They are really easy to deal with there...and to date...(cross fingers)...all is well with the block...I would go with the 574...Zims has 50 ml of loctite 574 for $15.95 US...You shouldn't need more than that...

Best of luck Alex...If you need anything holler
