Yet another cam tower thread
Jusy started reading about this - all a jumble in my head :
Cam tower - AKA cam housing? Has a gasket between it and the ... cylinder head. Right? Read the Clark's write up on this - that one has the big sprocket getting removed - can this be skipped if the only the gasket needs removal? I'm hoping to stop some oil from leaking out in the front. Think I posted here about that leak. Will replace the old bolts too if the gasket is replaced ... |

Yes, the cam tower has a gasket between it and the head. Is your leak coming from that area where the two mate? Mine used to leak occasionally. The lower bolts near the exhaust manifold would work loose. Finally took the offending bolts out and sprayed brake clean down into them to get all the oil out. Sprayed the bolt off to. When reinstalling the bolt, I put a light coat of RTV on them. Torqued them down and fixed the issue.

You can leave the cam sprocket on (it that's what you were referring to). All of them for that matter!
