968 /944 cabriolet owners

Hi all ,
I have just picked up a 1994 968 cabriolet ,
My question is this when you open the door is the window supposed to drop a small bit to open the door and then back up when door is closed as to sit up into roof seal properly,
Neither of my windows budge at at all and the widow is not sealing against the hood properly it seems to be closing against the seal rather than into it
Any info much appreciated !

Do the interior lights come on when you open the door? It could be the door contact switch as I believe it serves as the initiator for the window sequence you mention. There also should be a control relay that handles this feature. Unfortunately I do not know much about the convertible 944/968's. Perhaps someone will chime in with more help.

Dgcantrell ,
No the interior light does not come on as the door jam sw is completely wrecked and wire is missing from back of sw. I took it apart on Sunday.
but I can't believe it could be that simple could it ?
I will swap out door sw. With the 928 or better still 944 should be same... it would be a nice easy fix ...probably to easy :-) :-) :-)
Tks for the replys guys I will post results at weekend !

I think the contact switches for the 944 and 928 is the same animal.. They have two spade connectors on them. One for the interior lights. The other is for any power window systems. On the hard tops, it simply disables power to the windows when the door is opened. That way you can operate the windows without the ignition on before you open the door and exit the car. This same contact is probably used by the Cabrio window controller for the feature that isn't working on your car.

Your making sense to me ,
When I took off the contact sw there was no wires to be seen I think they have fallen back into the front wing if these are broken it would make sense that the system has no power to operate .. I will have to fish them out , I had no idea that these contacts had anything to do with window operation , I will post how I get on over the weekend ....
Thanks again for your direction !!!!

Actually it doesn't really supply power, it just a grounding contact. So as you're fishing the wires out and the ends touch the metal around the opening, the window may start to do it's thing. That'll be a positive thing..

Ok went at it again today there is no wire at all behind door jam light sw and couldn't find one passenger side has one wire (and I could not find another)and is connected but still does not turn on interior light ...
I found that the wires to each window sw wire spliced into and re routed through some kind of electronic box ( not alarm ) under drivers side dash install date on it 1996 ?? What the he'll is it has any one any clue ?????
...
I tested the connector in bottom of door with white wire in it with an ohm meter and I get nothing door closed, open , handle operated , exterior handle operated ... nothing on the ohm meter changes does this mean the micro sw is bad

So I need to rewire door jamb sw or is there a way I can just hard wire a link into that circuit on the window so I can test to see if micro sw is dead or not ?
