A little guidance 944s

A few of you were great in helping me locate a home for a wayward connector I had so I'm back with another question. I replaced my icv with new, replaced intake gasket and cleaned and revealed injectors. Now car idles great with a exception. When I start it cold, it will idle at about 1500 and then decrease to about 800 or so. When I accelerate, it accelerates fast but it is slow to decelerate. Before the repairs it went up fast and came down in rpm fast. Like I said idle is nice and smooth. Thanks in advance . Larry

Make sure the throttle cable isn't getting bound up by something. Also check the return spring on the throttle body for the throttle cam.

Is there a procedure for setting the cable length? I found a procedure for the throttle body stop but perhaps the cable length adjustment is off?

RE: procedures, there's one on Clark's for setting the idle air screw. Did you do it after replacing ICV?

Make sure there is just a hair of slack on the throttle cable at the throttle body cam when the thing is closed. This will insure that the throttle body butterfly valve can close all the way. If it's got any tension at all on it at fully closed, it can cause the issue you're having.
