924s clutch pedal

Father/son resurrection;
Working on getting good clutch pedal, PO had installed new slave/master, very weak pedal, grabbed at the end of the stroke and we drove it a bit that way but it wasn't right.
Took off the PO added 'return" spring (can see sill still hanging off fuse box)
Diagram seems to indicate there is supposed to be one somewhere. I take the switch hole goes unused (no clutch interlock on this but I assume some models must have had some clutch switch in there).
So, what spring where?
We bled it a lot, several times, used the brake caliper to reverse bleed it, I did remove the slave and worked it, back and forth between brake and clutch.
Pedal felt better but still quite light (to me). It was returning on it's own all except the first inch or so, there's dead space there where nothing's happening.
The downside to bringing back a car you never drove when good and didn't take apart, lots of unknowns!

There is more air in the system. I used a power bleeder to bleed mine yesterday and with the clutch depressed and more fluid pumped through, a lot more air came out, even after it looked air free at the slave.

Yeah. Bleeding the clutch hydraulics as a ***** sometimes. Last time, it took me a while to get it. Also make sure the adjustable rod from the pedal lever to clutch master cylinder is adjusted to where there is just a tiny amount of slack in it. You should be able to move the pedal about 3-4mm (measuring down at the lower part of the pedal itself) before it starts to push the rod.

I wondered about free play, PO was a nice guy but there is a lot of very questionable workmanship going on here.
Will set free play and go after more air.
That little spring is "needed" or not then? The schematic calls it a return spring.

Yeah, I'd put a spring on it somehow. Oh and there is no clutch interlock on these cars. At least none of the ones I've worked on. It's never been an issue for me though. It's automatic for me to stab the clutch when starting any manual car, truck, bike..... I was trained right.. LOL

LOL half ass fix.
I had a na that bent the fork. Yours sounds like air in the system. Also check the rubber pressure hose from master to slave

I do not have that spring on my 924s. It's somebody's half-assed fix. Get the air out with the good old Motive Power Bleeder and you should be fine.
