shimming a wastegate ?
what is it, how hard is it to do, what gains are there?

It's not hard to do. But it's easy to break off studs performing the operation.
When you install the shimm, it spaces the wastegate valve farther from the flange. It basically tricks the gate out. It's good if you have a weak wastegate. But for the money invest in the dual port wastegate from Lindsey.

It is an old school way of raising boost. There are much easier, better ways to raise the boost now. Also, you do not want to raise the boost w/out a set of performance chips anyway, and they usually come with their own method of raising boost.

Get the GURU kit. Comes with FPR, chips and a "Reliaboost" controller.
It also has the shims ahould you have a weak wastegate spring. http://www.gururacing.net/ChipUpgrade.html

will 15 psi of boost hurt my stock 951 or can it handle it, i have a widfire head gasket..

even though you boost the psi only 4 or 5 do you actually get HP gains
