944: Sauna edition

Hi there. I have a 87 944. Heat is on all the time. The controls seem to work in that if they are set to heat, it gets hotter. But, it never turns off. Its going to be over a hundred here soon, and I won't be able to stand it if I can't fix it! Any ideas?

Thanks!

I'm no expert, but I believe Clarks Garage cover this kind of common problem.

Just above the gas pedal under the dash, there is a control box for the climate control flap. There is a rod connected to a lever on that control box. The clip that holds it onto the lever is broken. When that happens the flap stays on heat mode all the time. The clip can be had from here at Pelican or any other online source. It's a cheap fix.

You might also check the vacuum line to the heater valve. If it is leaky or broken, the valve will "default" to heat on.

I have also had the same issue and it was caused by the plastic clip breaking and the control arm falling out of place. Make sure you order the plastic and the metal clips. I ordered my parts here at Pelican. Just give them the part numbers and they'll get the parts headed your way. And you'd be surprised, the parts are really cheap.

Just want to +1 Jordanarendt's Heater Fix link. I have this issue intermittently in my turbo. Once you get down and see the heater control arm it's easy to put back in place.

Yep...Cheapest part I ever bought for my 944 was that little plastic clip. Dealer part too !!!
