87 944S Fuel Pump layout..

Is this the normal 87 944S fuel pump layout? There is no cover and no evidence that one was on it. Also there is no insulating rubber around the pump here. My 87 8-valve and 88S have the covers and insulation. This one does not.

Nahh.. I was wondering more about the lack of a cover to protect the pump that is usually present. I've never seen one like this. Pump all "nekkid and afraid"... LOL

There's a two piece cover that's held in place by the strap that the fuel pump is bolted on it. And the fuel pump strap attaches to the cover.

Looks like this. I have one, can sell you for $40 shipped.

This is not my ebay though, I don't have it listed.

Aftermarket probably, but remember that the early 944 did not have any fuel pump cover at all.

On the late car it was purely for noise control...

My other 944's (an 87 NA and 88 S) have the covers. I just have never seen this setup on a later 944 like this 87 S. I will be converting it to the covered flavor. Mhariush, I might take you up on that cover soon..

The 944S definitely had a cover over the fuel pump when it left the factory. My '87 944S sure does. Good luck!

It does look different than my 951, I'm not sure if it is stock?

The thing that is puzzling me is there is no evidence that a cover was ever on this thing. There are no marks on the tank that would indicate one. None the less, I will be "updating" it for better protection.
