1984 AC Line Removal
I'm looking for some more details on this. I have an 84 NA that I am swapping in an LS1. I don't plan on installing AC now, but I will eventually. The AC lines into the firewall I was planning on cutting the AC lines a few inches after the dash for now. What is the process for removing the lines that go into the firewall? I didn't see anything to unclamp on the engine side of the firewall. Is it all done under the dash then?
Thanks |

On the early 944 & 924S, to remove the AC lines without cutting, you remove the entire AC unit from under the dash by the passenger side.
Remove the glove box and kick panel. Take a lot of pictures of the wires and hoses if you want to replace the unit correctly after you disconnect the AC lines. You will see the main lines. Unbolt the lines and unplug the electrical connections----tag if necessary. IRRC there are a couple of bolts holding up the unit. Then it just drops to the floor. If you plan to replace the unit in the future, replace the "O" rings on the expansion valve and evaporator inside the case---and all others. J_AZ

Ok, sounds good. I'll drop that unit and pull the lines.
Thanks! |
