Curious, and Curiouser...

So I was Changing my oil, filter, and Oil Pressure unit and came across this thing... im just curious wth it is... sprocket just left of the fuel rail.. oh and its in a 1985.5 944

It's a plug used for a dealer's diagnostic machine.
It is of no value to you. You can leave it unplugged and just tuck it out of the way.

All it does is tell the technician that the engine is at TDC without having to climb around looking for the flywheel mark.

There is supposed to be a rubber cap that fits down into the connector to prevent corrosion of the contacts also.

What year was that diagnostic plug installed? My 84 doesn't have one.

mine is a 85.5 944 but i also had one on my 86 925S..
