Another odd quirk
Sometimes when I'm driving with the foglights on or the headlights up, I can see that the hood light is on. I know nothing about wiring or electrical systems. As this isn't a "problem" per se, I'm not too concerned... but I would like to fix if i can.

The hood light only comes on when the parking and/or headlights are on.
Ever notice it doesn't come on when you open the hood with the lights off? Completely normal - fix is to remove the bulb. This is one of those "what the hell were they thinking" kind of issues. AFJuvat |
Holy crap how weird is that?

Kinda like a solar powered flashlight.....
|
It's one of those "just because you can do it doesn't mean you should" things. Another example would be having sex with a fat chick, just cuz you can doesn't mean you should! I mean c'mon, lots of companies do it, what's the point of a hoodlight if it doesn't turn on when you open the hood???

Funny, my underhood light comes on only when the hood is open and the lights are on. If the lights are on with the hood closed, the underhood light is off. It only comes on when I open the hood past about 2/3 open with either the parking lights or the headlights on. Then again, maybe I just have a lucky wiring quirk. :)

Maybe they fixed this issue by 1987?
I don't know what Porsche was thinking on some of these things. Like how runoff from the windshield goes directly into the battery tray... |
Poorly mirriored headlights can throw light back into the engine compartment and give it a ricey glow.
Have that on the wifes very old (85) Toyota Cellica. |
no... it's DEFINITELY the hood light. I can see right down into the hood a little bit from my driving position
|
HMMM? That is kinda quirky...Mine doesn't do that?
