No I don't mind quoting what I posted. I can't agree with AE1969. I believe these tests are accurate. All you have to do is watch the speedo and be sure you are at full boost and account for level roadway. I began doing them because they are not abusive to my old car and don't require a gear change. There is also no wheel spin so road surface grip doesn't enter the equation.
On an absolute basis I know my stock tires give higher speedo readings. But so long as we all have same tranny and tire diameters, we can campare. I posted the time with correct speed tires at 4.15 seconds which is considerably slower than the times posted with track tires. In true speed I imagine that my turbo would go from 0-100 (true speed) under the 10 second barrier. I base this on comparisons with my wife's car that does it in 10.6 according to Car and Driver tests. The 944 turbo, tested with the larger tires giving correct speed is considerably faster (0.6 second) in the 70-100 increment than my wife's car. Therefore, assuming nothing breaks, it should get to 100 in under 10 seconds. |
