Removing the clutch fork pin
So I tried the "screw in a bolt real tight" method of getting the clutch fork pin to rotate so I could jiggle it out, and, well, it didn't rotate. Any ideas of what to do about this new appendage under my 944?

What I do is get a long bolt (say 4-5") screw it in, then clamp a pair of vice grips onto the bolt, then bang on the vice grips with a hammer. Works great.
Hope you can get the present bolt out. Looks like you have enough to grab with vice grips. |
I am assuming the appendage wont' back out of the rod either? Regardless, PB rust buster but I know gravity will not be your favor. Can you get a slide hammer on it? You may need to put some heat around the pin before you try the next round of exorcism. Good luck and to think I was the only one things like this happened.

I had this same problem awhile back. What i did was remoce the bolts from the pressure plate and removed the bell housing with the pressure plate still in. I put it on my bench. I then went to the hole in the top of the bell housing and drove the pin out with a hammer and punch. It was much easier than trying to fight it under the car. This is an easy method and anyone having trouble with this should try it.

I had the same issue. I bought the arnnworx tool and it immediately broke the threaded rod trying to pull out the clutch fork pin.
I ended up removing the pressure plate bolts through the starter hole, taking the whole assembly off, and hitting the clutch fork pin from the back side with a hammer and long screwdriver. Even then, it was tough to get out. I've seen people on the forums where even the method of hitting it from the backside doesn't work and they have to get a machine shop to press the pin out. They can get really, really stuck. Good luck. |
Punching from the back got it. Next time, I will do this to start. Thanks for the tip.
