Seat Guru Question
Ok, I have a good (almost perfect) passenger seat that I want to swap with my ripped driver seat.
I know, I could recover them with a kit. But I thought it would be easy to simply swap it over as it looks pretty much like a mirror. Here's my challenge. My driver side is power and the seat rail is different both in mounting points (opposite) to the car and to the better looking (passenger) seat. I can't easily slide out the bottom slides as they have stops. My current thought is to cut the fulcrum of the power seat rails and drill new holes (maybe 2 are needed) to mount the rails to the seats. The sliders (bottom parts of the rails) would already line up with the car as I am basically re-purposing the driver side hardware. The tell tale item would be the seat angle handle as it would be above the fore-aft position handle (and look odd to say the least). Is there a manual driver track? Is there really no alternative to simply recovering the driver (and passenger) so they match?

Some auto upholstery shops will custom make a new seat cover for one section, such as the drivers seat bottom. The leather won't match perfectly but for me it was close enough. If you take the seat out and take it apart, you could probably get it done for $2-300.

I think that maybe what I have to do.
There is no easy answer to this square peg in a round hole.

I am going to pull the leather from the passenger seat pad and transfer it over... that seems to be the "easiest" fix.
