Injector issue
 
Fellows, I think I might have found my rough idling problem but now I opened up a Can a worm that I can not fix easily.

1. I took My injectors off of the Car since I noticed some leaks ( Bubble) on top of the injectors so I ordered new O-Rings from Ebay and another set from Rennbay and the first one was part # 1 287 010 704 and the second one from Rennbay. The first one was too big for the injector and the second one too loose. In both cases, they claimed it was made for a 1985-2 944. So I am not happy about this one.

2. After installing the Rennbay kit, I reinstalled the injectors and bypassed the DME relay and when the fuel pressurized, I had leaks from the bottom and the top of the injector.

3. I removed the fuel Rail along with injectors in one piece and put the injectors in a bottle and turned DME relay back on and I noticed that fuel was leaking from the nozzle.

Not sure if this a case of a leaky bad injector or when you bypass DME relay does this. So I need advice on this.

I also need to know if anyone had issues with getting the right Kit for a 1985-2 944 since neither one looks the right one.

If these are in fact bad injectors, what are my choices?

1st picture should not have 2 O-rings on one end. Plastic washer, then O-ring, pintle capz

Measure the ring you have. Should be 7.52x3.53mm. Can also use SAE sized O-rings, they're slightly thicker, but will squeeze into the holes fine and seal.

These injectors are getting old if they are original and they do start to leak.
I replaced all the seals to no avail. Simply had to get new injectors. It is an expensive part. Pelican was out of stock on the Bosch injector - I lucked out and found them new on EBay for $80 each for my 951.

The brown residue on that injector may be from dried fuel from a cracked leaking injector body. They have been known to crack and leak. Get a used injector to replace it on the used parts forum.

The brown residue on that injector is rust..... I pulled the ones of the 88 S that I'm working on last year and buffed them clean on the 10" bench grinder with the wire wheel. Taped them up and painted them with black epoxy paint. Got new seals and reassembled everything. Didn't have any leaks to start with but the fuel rail was not secured. The PO had left it loose since the holes in the intake were stripped. I helicoiled them and all is well. Be sure to lube the o-rings with a bit of grease when putting them back into the rail and the head. Google the Porsche 944 Fuel Injector to and check the images for the correct sequence of parts on the lower end. From top to bottom it should be the spacer first, o-ring, and then the plastic hat, in that order.
