The unit under the intake sounds like the Idle Control Valve. It lets extra air into the intake to increase the Idle when the engine is cold. It has nothing to do with the heat. The reservoir is only for vacuum, it is not connected to the air conditioning. If the HCV has been removed then I expect someone, somehow has blocked the hot water flow to the heater.

Looks like the sins of previous owners past are coming back to haunt you on your 944.
Someone really messed that vacuum system up and is causing some major havoc on the car, does it even idle correctly? Can you take more pictures of the HCV location so we can see what you are looking at? No wonder why you have no heat or controls over it, the necessary parts/pieces seem to be missing. What else must be wrong with the car? It's sounds scary:eek: Also, when you post a picture, click on the picture you uploaded to imgur, then the menu to the right will show up to allow you to copy the BB Link and paste it on the forums so people don't have to click on the link, it will appear in the forum automatically. |
MJ,
Does the car still have a heater core, and if so are there any hoses connected? Here is a pic of the hoses with the engine removed. If the hoses are gone it could be because the heater core was leaking and they just bypassed it. Or maybe they took a shortcut when replacing the engine and left the hoses off. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a70...4/P1080563.jpg |
Guys. Dont' abandon me now. I'm still in the dark and its getting colder here each dd-d-d-d-d-d-d day

You need to post pictures of the area between the engine and firewall.
