R&R engine need some advice

I think my 86.5 944 engine is gone and i'm consider to replace with a turbo engine.
What you think.
Is is possible or i will have to replace a lot more thinks besides the engine.
Is the wiring /electrical /Trs /different?
I know some about engines but i never did something like that before.Thank for your help guys.

:(

Wiring is different. DME is different. Trans is different. Exhaust is different. Think there are mounting holes for the intercooler but I'm not sure. Brakes are different.

Yeap. Looks like a direct swap! Just jack up the radiator cap and drive the 951 under it.

Thank's //I got the picture.

You would really need to buy a complete package or a 951 parts car to make it justifiable.

I could hook you up with EVERYTHING you need to do a 951 conversion if you were really interested. Even the suspension, brakes. I have a exceptionally well cared for low mileage 951 that is wrecked. Heck, I could even help you swap it all out if you are serious.

951carter, you still selling one of your 951's? How much?

I am selling my white 88 for $9k OBO. It is a really nice car. I have been driving it alot lately and it is really impressive.

Here is a link to it.

todwic, this is the next logical chapter in your saga. But you should find a way to leave your auto in, that way you could have the only auto 951.

I would LOVE to have a 951 auto for use as an around town and highway cruiser........hmmmmm........now you got me thinkin........../winter project/?

951carter 01-13-2003 05:40 PM

oops.........i dubble clicked it =)

Maybe you could try to put a 968 Tiptronic transmission on one of your 951's :p

951carter 01-13-2003 09:54 PM

That's one heck of an idea Todd!

One thing that makes it real appealing to me is the fact that my wife will not drive a manual tranny.......hence she has never experienced the wonder of driving a 951!

DangerIsland 01-13-2003 10:37 PM

driving a 951 with the auto tranny in the 944s would also not be experiencing the wonder... in fact, ANY auto can't do justice to these cars, the tip would almost be OK.

I don't think having the only auto 951 would be anything to brag about. I don't think I'd admit to it ;)

Thanks 951 Carter.
I really want to switch to Turbo 944.
My unterstanting is that it will be better to buy one.
Seems financial it will cost as much to modifie a 944 n/a to 944 turbo.
Plus i live in GA.Most of you Guys are either north or south of me.
Buy the way ....how bad is the recked 951 and how much do you want for it.
Thank's Nick
