Side mirror glass

So i purchased a Burco side mirror glass to replace the passenger side glass and on the site it states it for a 84 porshe 944 and the measurements are 3 3/8 X 5 7/16

clearly the glass is to small

my car is a NA 84 944 and the backing piece comes on and off i thought i would have to take the whole side mirror off but i didn't

You need the Burco 2814 (flat mirror, driver or passenger side) or the 3614 (convex, passenger side).

No affiliation <only944.com>

Buy from someone who knows our cars and mistakes like that are rarely made.

There's something weird here.

The Burco online catalog specs a 2812 for 83-85, and the 2814 for 85.5 and later.

I thought the flag mirrors were the same size on the entire 944 series, but Burco shows it smaller for the 85 and earlier model, but I may not be remembering it correctly.

Either Burco is wrong or the mirrors were changed on your 944?

Burco 3614 mirror is for passenger side only.
It is convex, everything looks smaller.

Just checking!

Just curious, what adhesive can you use to glue the glass back onto the factory mounting part?

Only thing that ever changed in the mirror glass is the use of a convex mirror for passenger side starting in 1988. The size is the same for all AFAIK.

The internal mechanism and attachment method (pins vs. bayonet IIRC) did change though, in 1985 I think.

If you are looking to convert to the convex glass on an older car, you can just stick the new glass over the old glass with the adhesive pads supplied. The extra thickness of the old glass is barely noticeable. There is no need to bust up the old glass and break your power mirror in the process.

If one of the original mirror glasses falls off and doesn't break you can use RTV to reattach it.

While we are on the subject does anyone know of a kit to rebuild either the electric mirror or the day/night mechanism on the center mirror?
