Changing out rear wheel bearings

I have an early 944 with the stamped steel trailing arm suspension. The suspension is totally out of the car. Due to an inner seal being torn in half and dangling, along with the poor history of the car...I tore down the rear axle bearing assembly along with removal of the spacers on the stub axle shaft. I have new bearings and seals to replace the garbage that was in there..Pelican and the PET show a small o-ring that is supposed to fit close to the inner? bearing..The shop manual does not show such an o-ring nor do they mention it in the reassembly of the unit. If such an o-ring is required, where does it fit? Inside or outside of the inside bearing??? I did not find such an O-ring when I tore down the assembly...and can anyone source new spacers which are supposed to be NLA? Mine are pretty badly beat and are scored..Thanks Tiger

If I may give an obnoxious answer, now is a great time to ditch that ghetto setup for later alloy trailing arms.

You'd need parts from an 86 951, or an 86-88 924s (trailing arms plus spring plates).

Good idea to replace everything while you're there ... later trailing arms are much better and they don't rust.
Keep in mind, you will also have to swap for later axles as well, the early models are 17 inches in length whereas the later ones are 20 inches in length.

I did the swap on my 83 because i wanted to switch to coilovers , and it is a race car ,but i highly recommend the swap !

Axles are the same using the trailing arms I specified.
