Very nice turbo S. Thinking about replacing my S2, which looks very similar in the same colour etc.

Could you e-mail me a few pics and tell me a bit about :

Year
History (service, major repairs etc.)
Mileage
Asking price
Does the A/C, cruise, etc work OK?

Thanks

Mark

The 951 S is one hot car. It shouldn't take long to sell if your asking a realistic price...Good luck!

Here are some of the basic numbers:

mileage: 80,700
condition: 9-9.5
engine: 150 psi across all four cylinders (as new)

Everything works excellent including the AC. I am asking $15,500 negotiable. Cash is preferred. Thanks,

Erick

For more pics, email me as they are too large to display on pelican. I have additional engine and interior pictures.

Well basically there are two 951s.
The original model had 220 hp, but then Porsche introduced the Turbo S (type 952) in (1987? I forget) and it had 250 hp. From then on, Porsche dropped the base Turbo, made the 952 the only 944 Turbo, so from then on all 951s had 250 hp.

951S was introduced for '88. The '88 model was a stripped-down version that only came in a nice light silverish-purple color (primrose metallic?) and a cloth interior. The '89 turbo had all the amenities of the previous 'regular' turbo, plus the engine from the '88 turbo S.

"a nice light silverish-purple color (primrose metallic?)"
I think it was called "silver rose"
many of these cars can be recognized by the 'turbo' script on the front fenders... it was a no-cost delete option

Question

I mean no disrespect however if I may ask,
why do you need to sell the car ASAP?

The Turbo S for 88 wasn't stripped down, in fact it had all the regular 944 turbo items and much more (10 speaker stereo, alarm, etc.). The early 88 S models came with silver rose paint, and later 88 cars had other colors available. The 89 944 turbo was identical to the 88 Turbo S from the engine to the dme, clutch, trans, forged alloys, etc. Basically the same exact car, but with more color options.

On Autotrader.com I saw quite a few around $13000 and some as low as $9000.

Yes, Silver Rose metallic was the color of the 88 Turbo S with 247 HP vs. 217 on the regular 944 Turbo...My 89 Turbo S was Black...Chipped and ate Vette's up at an alarming rate! If their are many Turbo S's at $9000 they might be a GREAT value as that car was over 2 seconds per lap FASTER then a 89 911 Turbo...Very impressive, with the 928S4 brakes as well! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm Turbo S!
