Starter

Went out to the car this morning and the car will not start. Seems the starter isn't turning over. Any idea what could cause this?
I do have a problem with my electrical where sometimes the car won't start with the key I have to "hotwire" it under the hood. When I tried that this morning, it made a hissing sound. No other sound came from the starter.
Any help would be great.....
Thanks

May be the starter solenoid.

Thanks. Any idea what my best option would be for it? I called around to see what a rebuilt starter would cost and they want $250 + my starter. I am in BC Canada.
Thanks

If there is a starter/alternator shop in your area, they should be able to work on your Bosch starter. Porsche isn't the only manufacturer to use Bosch parts. I live in a rural area, and there is a starter shop locally that does lots of work on tractors (old stuff with 6 volt systems) and heavy machinery as well as automobiles, and they were very familiar with my 944 starter, but don't do much work on Porsches around here. Removal is a snap, as is the installation.
