Unhappy Cracked 16" BBS RS

Hello,
I'm new to the Pelican bbs. I own an '87 944s n/a with BBS RS's and one had a slow leak--- took the wheel off and found the source: a cross shaped crack on the back bead. In the intersection of the crack is a 1cm chunk missing anywho the local tire guy (btw-I live in BFE Kansas) said a local whiz has fixed other alloys for them and he is willing to try to fix it. Now, tell me is it fixable? Are they a magnesium alloy? Not planning on tracking these wheels. Or are there other places I should consider for fixing? Anyone have a pair of 16" phone dials they need to get out of their garage? Help me, my rabbit truck is just not as much fun to drive. Tyce

A while back I had a Jeep CJ-5 that needed some serious welding (the rust just wasn't holding up). I took it to a welding shop and noticed 2 alloy rims there that looked like they had been split with with an ax. The owner of the shop said a guy who owned a Saab drove into a construction site and right into a strip of pavement that had been freshly cut with a saw. The concrete or asphalt edge blew out the tires, wrecked his suspension, and the rims looked like they were chopped with a ax (in some places, the metal looked to be torn).

The owner of the shop said he could fix them. I expressed disbelief and he showed me the 2 rims that he fixed. I was shocked. He used some sort of high pressure/high temperature oven thing to do the repairs.

There is hope!

I had hit a pot hole in one of my 944's and cracked the inner bead pretty bad. (cookie cutters) It was missing a small triangular peice on the lip and cracked almost to the middle of the rim. I braught it to the local tire repair shop and they welded it up and it never leaked.

Call 1-888-4fixrim I think it's $105 flat rate to totally refinish including return shipping. If they can't fix it, no cost. Better than factory tolerances. I've had several repaired.
