'86 turbo front hubs

Can the later '87 front hubs be used on '86 spindles? I realize the rotors mount differently, so different rotors are needed, but I would like to replace my worn out '86 hubs with the better billet front hubs, and they seem to only be available for '87 and up.

No, you need the spindles also as the bearings are bigger. The later spindles are also late offset, so you will need camber plates to bring back the stock range of camber settings.

Thanks - I didn't think about checking the bearing sizes. Sure enough, you're right. Different part #s. So in addition to different spindles, would I have to swap to the later control arms too? I have early Charley arms with KW Clubsport struts, so I already have the adjustable camber plates. Later arms would also mean different offset wheels...what a can of worms! Sounds like I should just source some hubs with fewer miles. My goal was to get away from the very expensive rotors I have to use since I went to a big brake set up...hats and all instead of the M030 rotors.

No, you can keep your early offset arms and wheels, all you need to change are your hubs and spindles to the later type and as you already have camber plates your range of camber will be fine. While doing these conversions what a lot of people do not realize is that the front offset is only determined by the control arms BUT the spindles take into account the different angle of the strut early to late. So if you fit late spindles to early control arms it affects he factory range of camber adjustment. However, simply fitting camber plate, like you already have, cures this.

My picture tells the whole story, see early v. late spindles below. There is about a 4 degree difference where the strut attaches, which means the top of your early offset wheels will be pulled in by about 4 degrees, but your plates can bring that back . Hope that all makes sense.
