85B Injector issue (car won't start)
Hi!
I had a timing belt failure a few months back on my 944 85b. Valves are exchanged and everything is assembled. When i crank the car i get spark and fuel pressure but the injectors won't open. I got "tach-bounce" and i have also checked the reference and speed sensor and they both show roughly 1000 ohm. I also got 12v at the injector harness, this should exclude that the wires are harmed? As far as i understand the injectors are controlled on the same signal from the DME that gives the car spark/fuel pressure? I have not checked with a noid light if there is any signal. I have also tried to manually open the injectors with a battery with no success either. What voltage should be sufficient for them to open? Any ideas are much appreciated! |
12V and ~5A is required to open the injector (the injector coil is 2.4-2.8 ohm)
try misting starting fluid in the inlet to see if it catches? |
While the car uses 12v if an injector is not stuck I have been able to pulse them with a 9v battery, usually. Sticky ones not so much. Do not hold power on them for more than a few 10's of a second, you can burn out the coils.
You should look for a ground pulse at the injectors to fire them. -Joel. |
