Parts list for rod bearing job?

So I figure while I'm changing the clutch, I might as well change the bearings and drop the pan, especially since I had some contamination issues with a previous engine failure.

Shop is going to charge 1k in labor for the clutch, and an additional 600 in labor for the rod bearings, and I supply the parts.

So far:

Rod bearings
Rod nuts
Oil pan gasket
Rear main seal
Oil pick up o-ring
Pickup tube reinforcement?

What am i missing

If you provide your own parts, many shops won't give you a warranty. Risky.

Good time to refresh speed and reference sensors, control arm bushings, motor mounts. leaky steering components. Also a good time to add a crank scraper.

A shapely organic commodity usually rented by the hour. I know, I know , this is a family forum

Check the parts diagrams for the S2 car's oil pan and it should be pictured. It helps control oil slinging and foaming caused the rapidly spinning crankshaft interacting with the oil in the pan.

It is possible that the plastic internal baffle in the pan may have cracked mounting tabs. It is actually two parts and you my just need the lower half.

No the intake doesn't come off ...
You pretty much have everything you need , i assume your shop will supply the assembly lube ?

Although $600.00 for a rod bearing job AND you have to supply the parts ?

Not sure where you are in Ontario , but give Ernie a call at Mantissport in Oakville, he specializes in 944's and
him and his daughter both race one !

What is a good price on rod bearings? He can do the clutch for 1k labour. I supply the parts. When I suggested rod bearings as well, he told me an additional $600. I've dealt with Mantis, didn't have a good experience...

They aren't familiar at all with the 16v models. Early on in my ownership, I brought it there first, and when I requested the plastic chain tensioner pieces to be replaced, he said "Don't believe everything you read on the internet". I insisted they perform the job, and they changed the ENTIRE TENSIONER, which was hugely expensive.

Again, what is a reasonable labour charge for a rod bearing job?

Personally if i were doing rod bearings in a shop setting w plastiguage etc on any porshe with any kind of warranty it would cost more than replacing the clutch.
Simply because of the time involved to do it right.

Six hours labor is reasonable.
