944 Tire Sizes

I have a 1986 base 944 with staggered 205/55/16 front and 225/50/16 in the rear. What is stock and is it typical to stagger sizes front to rear?
Rick

RTFM Stock on yours was 15in diameter 7in wide wheels with 195/65 tires not staggered.

Those sizes came from factory on 944 turbo. If you have 16x7 and 16x8 staggered rims, but you don't want a staggered tire setup (e.g. to slightly reduce understeer), you can put 205/55 or 225/50 tires all around on those rims. However, even better results can be achieved with suspension modifications and/or alignment settings.

Check the width of the rims as well. You may have optional 16x7" 944 or stock 16x7/8" 951 set-up. Tyre sizes in themselves don't say much because it's doubtful these are the original OEM tyres that was on the car when it left the factory.
