Oil pressure reading too high?

Previously my 924s oil pressure gauge always was pegged at 5 bars. So I replaced the oil pressure sensor as suggested on other threads. The sensor must have been original because it was a bear to remove. Anyway, I installed a new one and redid the wire connections. Now the oil pressure gauge reads just below 4 at idle and just above 4 when driving. Are these reasonable values? I'm thinking the idle value is too high? I recently did an oil/filter change the the oil level is right at the full mark on the dipstick. I'm using Valvoline racing 20W-50 oil.

Thanks.

when i replaced oil pressure gauge on my 85.5 944 and replaced the oil with brad penn 20w50 at idle mine was just below the 3 line, and just above 4.5 at load. might want to check and make sure the connectors are secure, may factor in.

Does it react to temperature? Read higher on coil oil?

Thanks Alex. OK, so perhaps only my idle reading is a bit suspect. I'll check the connections, but what else might cause a high idle reading?

Jfrahm, not sure what you mean?

I believe jfrahm means, when you first start your car in the AM does the oil read higher then when the engine is hot.
also clogged oil passages would do this, or faulty ground for the oil sensor.
