Injector connector
I had a bad miss and traced it to a loose injector connector. The connector would back off the injector a little bit and not make a good connection. I was perplexed.
I gently peeled back the rubber boot and noticed a dab of epoxy holding the wire to the connector shell. I think without the epoxy the metal connector can back out of the shell just enough to loose contact with the injector. Has anyone else seen this? |

The metal connector doesn't pull all the way out like the tab is still there. I pulls back just an eight of an inch or so, enough to loose contact and cause a miss.

If it were mine I'd take it as a sign that the connectors and pins should be taken apart, examined and probably replaced. |
A worn connector shell sounds like a plausible explanation. This is an 85.5 car and on two of the four connectors I can pull back on the wire and feel it loose contact and start to miss.
So the first thing I am going to do is replace the connector shells. The wiring looked good on the two I inspected and I cant imagine there is anything wrong with the metal terminals. |
The wire 'keeper" clips are installed correctly?
