I've read through all the archives here regarding the "coming to a stop" shudder some US and Canadian 944s have. Most of what I've read would seem to indicate the problem was fixed on models manufactured after 1985 and it also only affected the na models. Well I have an '86 turbo version and it does the same thing. Has anyone heard of this happening with the turbo version? I've emailed the good folks at frwilk.com and they are not familiar with the turbo.

My bad, I should have explained better. The RPMs dip to near stalling speed then climb back up to around 900. I know there were some chips (not the Lay's or Pringles type)that were supposed to fix this as it had to do with the DME shutting of the fuel supply. However, the chips only suggest this was a problem peculiar to the na version and not the turbo.

I just went through this on my 87 after I tore the thing down for some major work. In my case it was the TPS, my throttle cable was adjusted incorrectly so that it was not allowing the TPS to click to the shutoff state.
Also had this problem on another occasion and it was the air flapper door on the AFM, the spring was weak and the flapper was sticking open and not going to the close position. I cleaned the unit up and it worked fine after that.
