Early 944 side view mirror breakdown

I've recently had an issue with the driver's side mirror (motor kaput) on my 84 and couldn't find any tutorial on how to repair the assembly, if it's at all possible. So, I decided to take some photos of the various components during disassembly. I realize that Clark's Garage gives a nice explanation on how to remove & install the entire motor assembly but I'm looking into delving deeper...

The four pop rivets have to be drilled out in order for the motor assembly to separate from the backing plate (three screws installed backwards with the heads inside the rubber bellows.

There appears to be two electric motors tied together, along with an elaborate string/spring rocking mechanism. How in the world did they engineer this?? Well, it works (until it doesn't), however; I can fully understand why Porsche amended the design.

I'm not sure how to re-secure the screws (I used a pair of pliers to grab the tail end and unscrewed them backwards) unless a nut is glued inside the bellows area and each screw is installed backwards... That's why I'm looking for a replacement unit so the car can be put back together while I keep fiddling with this situation. Definitely welcome any suggestions.

Farah,
I have tons of mirrors. What part do you need? Learned the hard way today that the 6 wires (early and late) going into the mirror work differently between the late and early mirrors. Put a early motor in a late chassis and only 1 axis works - left ,right yes. Up, down NO. We replaced the customers early mirror motor assy with a late one to match his chassis and it works fine now. Dang body shop at some point in the past did the bad deed.

Thanks Timmay!
I appreciate the offer but I picked one (motor assembly) up from Ken on this forum. He gave me a nice unit for a very fair price and it works great!
