Nicest looking early car I think I've ever seen
https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/6204856798.html
Don't know if he'll get the price he's asking, but it's still a helluva nice car.

Yeah I've noticed as 911 prices have cooled off some the 944, 914 prices are getting way up there. Not saying it's a bad thing and the car above is a perfect example.

It's a nice example but it's the wrong time to buy any transaxle. Give it a year or two and prices will cool off.

You can still get these cars in good shape for pennies. The top 10% condition wise with prices to match just sit on the market. |

Prices
I noticed that too- and yet, some 'gentlemen' - offer me 2500 for my 944 with 4000 miles on new motor. He was like, yeah I can offer 2500. WTH? The motor alone was 7000! 1987 944/s

Hope he gets it. Maybe it will help raise the bar some more so when my Concours winning 25,xxx mile Guards Red 84 with black leather sports seats hits the market my asking price won't seem so bad

I disagree with 9FF. Now is the time to buy a transaxle car because they're still going up. Whether you want to keep a car or flip it in 3-5 yrs.

Ask any car dealer who's been in the business a while or go to any car auction, prices don't just go up and up on "classics", they go up and they come down depending on a number of factors. Currently there is a great deal of interest in transaxles brought about by Porsche "The Transaxle Era" and a lot of other press and hype. Also the economy is on an upward trend, during downturns prices go down, one thing history teaches us is that there will be downturns and prices will come down.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love the prices to continue upwards indefinitely, I own a couple of nice examples myself, but I'm a realist and I don't buy into the hype.

9FF,
I understand and agree, but here in San Diego I'm seeing higher and higher prices for cars and parts. I'd get on the ride now if you want one of these 944's, guys. I think they're going to continue appreciating for some time. Let's see. Follow the auctions. I just bought a 1981 931, too.
