944 Ignition barrel

I've had an alarm fitted but the installer can't finish it off because he can't remove the Ignition barrel I've tried it as per the haynes manual but have got no, where its stuck soild. Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks ever so much for that I think that should make it possible to reach the wires. Out of interest is it easy to remove the metal from the colum as the picture?

What year is your 944? I'm trying to figure out why the alarm installer needs to pull the barrel..the electrical switch and wiring is accessible from under the dash.

It's a '84,
All the wires for the Ignition are very well tucked away under the dash and we can't get to them (unless there is another way?) He needs to solder into the igntion wires and it has to be very neat (cat1 Alarm)

Find an installer that has 944 experiance. You can drop the fuse/relay block and do the same thing -- better.

Later model factory alarms break not only the ignition to the coil but the base power to the DME relay. Think about it.
