Knocking noise
 
I have a 944, 88 model.

There is a rear knocking noise which occurs now and then when i am driving.

However jacked the rear up yesterday and changed the gear box oil but couldn't hear any noise. I first thought it might be the CV boot/joint or even the gear box(hope not).


Can anyone help?

Not sure what it is.

Inspect your C.V. joints.

check to see if your tow hooks are hitting the muffler!

I double what Todwic says; check the CV joints. Besides ticking/clicking going around corners these can give you wheel rotation timed thumps under load.
