Best price on an 84 radiator?

Wow, Can't believe how expensive the 944 radiators are. Anyone know a vendor with a sale on the radiator or a good price? Thanks!

Doug

$300 is about the best you'll be able to do. I had to put one in my '86 earlier this year and that is what I had to pay.

Long shot, but better yet, who knows where to get the gaskets for the end tanks? These things gotta be rebuildable. Wifey and I autopsied one and it was pretty straightforward.

But we ended up buying a new one for her 87 auto. That. Really. Hurt.

Check out Plyhammers parts, mark has really helped me find a transmission coupler for a very good price.

I'd be leery of buying a used radiator. Most of them are very old at this point and don't take well to being moved around.

Mine was original to the car and had never been removed. Despite being very careful it broke between the plastic tank and core on the drivers side (hot side).

I called a number of radiator repair shops and none of them would attempt to rebuild it.

You'll also want think about upper and lower mounting bushings. Mine were in horrible shape.

$270 is the best I've seen, I think it was on here (Pelican).

If you're feeling creative and experimental I think I have an alternative from another car that could work...PM me.

I wouldn't opposed to a used radiator....many of these cars have had their radiators replaced. If you can find one from a car that has already had a replacement, I would go for that. Plyhammer is a good place to start for a used radiator.

There have also been a few write ups about the Aluminum Ebay radiators....I don't have personal experience, but have heard good things

That's not what I heard about plyhammer, but I heard he's a great businessman and his products are first rate! Heh. From one buckeye to another across the miles.

So I repaired what I hope is the source of the leak just to get the girl running (I've yet to drive her - ever) with epoxy and a new sensor and gasket. But I'll be in the market once I get her running and see what other parts I might need. Thanks!
