'88 924S: Help me find a wiring connector under the dash!
Just put the interior and dash back together, but I cannot find the other end (where the signal comes from on its way to the gauge) for the fuel sender/ebrake wire, and my back is killing me from being upside-down under the dash trying to find it! This is a flat, white 4-pin connector. The female end of it comes off the gauge cluster wiring harness just to the left of the DME\ECU (right above the driver's left knee, basically). But I can't find the other end of it anywhere after 2 hours of searching!
So my question to the group-mind here is: where do these wires come from (i.e. which direction does the male end of this 4-pin connector originate from?). Does it come up the left side kick panel by the fuse boxes? Or does it come from the other side of the dash and behind the center console stack? Just trying to narrow down where I should look for this elusive connector before I start ripping stuff apart and/or tracing the wiring all the way from the fuel tank. I'm guessing it got tucked behind a piece of carpeting someplace or something else dumb like that, who knows.... This is a different connector (for headlights), but it should look something like this: Last edited by irish44j; 10-03-2017 at 05:24 AM.. |

I might be wrong, but this may be for the hatch release button, located near the clutch pedal in the carpeted area.
Or, if you have cruise control, perhaps the connector for the switch in the turn signal.

dammit, I think you're right....which is actually bad news lol.
This car did have cruise control but I replaced with a non-cruise signal switch since I don't use cruise and it didn't work anyhow. So that's surely what that plug is for (hatch button works fine). So now I guess it's time to go back to figuring out why my fuel gauge and parking brake warning light don't work. In my wiring diagram it shows those two wires going through a 4-pin connector before getting to the gauge cluster 12-pin connector, so I assumed it was just unplugged. back to the drawing board... :/ That said, thanks for stating the obvious for me. I feel stupid for having forgotten that lol.....out of sight, out of mind I guess! |

I guess my new question is "where is the 4-pin plug (labeled as "4-3" in the shop manual wiring diagram) used by the fuel sender and parking brake!
