F1 engine ?

Do this engine on the huntley racingpage was from an f1 ?
If I remember correctly I´m 26 years old and this was a lot of time ago, Maclaren with Lauda and Prost uses Porsche 1.5 L. engines with TAG fuel injection before the honda gold era ?
Do this engine was ?

That certainly looks like the TAG Porsche V6 Turbo F1 engine to me.

Eduardo Castrejón Elbjorn 02-14-2003 08:49 AM

Thanks for your answer

I saw that here are not f1 fans

What about the 3.5 L. n/a v12 used time ago, a lot newer than the tag but was used more than 10 years ago.
Was used on 2 quality f1, I don´t remember, the name ? was white with red ( footwork or something), the engine had not sucess.
Do this engine have another aplication like a sport prototype ?

wawaloon 02-14-2003 09:11 AM

Yeah, that was a team called Footwork. What an abortive racing attempt that was for Porsche. I saw that car attemp to qualify in Montreal in 91. They had a couple of engine failures that day, if memory serves.

Are you an F1 fan? DId you ever get to see the Mexican GP in Mexico City?

wawaloon 02-14-2003 09:13 AM

I think the Footwork Team became the current (about to be defunct) Arrows tream. I think that is true.

Eduardo Castrejón Elbjorn 02-14-2003 09:26 AM

yes, I believe your answers are correct. thanks

Yes, I saw mexican gp from 86 to the last one. Hope the f1 returns soon, we have 2 dates in this year in cart (monterrey,d.f)

Yes, I´m a fan of f1 !
I always want to race in f1, but I only can won 2 local championship in (Queretaro) and was very expensive I had a lot of local sponsors but I always need money to can race. Now I´m 26 years old, then no more race dreams, I need to make my life, I already sold my race cars ( to a couisin, then from time to time) and I still have a 250cc 2 stroke bikes that I used only for track when I went to Queretaro city.
Maybe sounds stupid but in Acapulco do not exist even a small track !

wawaloon 02-14-2003 09:40 AM

No racing for me, just on bicycles-it's far more cheap to race bicycles than cars (good for my heath too). A little rallying is all I've done for motorsports. I would like to get my car on the track sometime though.

I miss the Mexican GP too. Mexico City is at around 10,000 feet elevation, isn't it?

I don´t know the exact number but very high !, in México (D.F.) city the engines lost a lot of power, also the turbo engines lost.

It's a shame that porsche has abandoned the upper reaches of motorsport lately.

I'd love to see them in F1 or back in the upper classes of sportscar racing again.

Remember those TAG Prsches in F1 or the 956/962 in sportscar racing or the 959 in the Paris-Dakar Rally?

Who could forget the years of the various 917s?

Oh well, they still win races in other classes with 911 variants.
