My 83 has a ding in the fender. There is are metal showing should I cover it up with paint or nail polish or leave it. The bare spot is 1/4 of an in long and skinny. I live in NH where rust ruins cars. I heard that 944s do not rust, but I wanted some advise
Thanks Chip |

I live where streets get lots and lots of sault and mine has no rust, I haven't ever seen a 944 with rust. My 944 is made of galvanized metal and I was told by my welding instructor that galvanized metal does not rust.

Galvanizing is simply a coating of zinc over regular steel. If the scratch is deep enough, the zinc is gone, and it will rust. A steel garbage can is galvanized. Ever see a rusty one? Zinc lasts a long time, but not forever.
