Sounds pretty crazy eh? But here's the situation.
I have: An 84' NA engine and An 87' 944S body All I want to do, is merge them together as easily and cleanly as possible... So now I'm trying to figure out the best way to do the electrical part of this transplant. At first I was thinking about moving the 84's DME over to the 87' 944S with the 84's engine. But in doing that the gauges won't work properly. (ei. the tach and speedo). But I had an idea. What if I just buy a DME from a late 944NA??! They're basicly the same bodies, same instruments, same electrical components. That would solve everything! .....or would it? I'm thinking that the connectors to the 84' engine wiring harness won't match up to the post 85.5 NA DME, so some splicing would have to go on, no biggie... But what else am I missing? Will this work? I appreciate any info guys! Thanks! -Tony |

Anything can be done with enough patience, parts and money. wouldn't you rather put an S or S2 engine in it. BTW what hapened to the engine out of the car. ( I need A head and cams)

Oh yea get both wiring diagrams and You should be able to make everything work. If you decide to do this I am a technician and have access to wiring diagrams and such, and while I have not done anything like this to a porsche, I have installed fuel injection in other vehicles not fuel injected, with tuned port or throttle body making necessary wiring modifications.

I bought the 944S body without an engine. My 84' NA was in an accident and has major body damage, and the cost to repair it exceeded it's worth, but the engine is in beautiful shape with no problems what so ever. I plan on doing this swap this spring/summer, and I'm just getting all my ducks in a row so everything will go nice and smooth.
Thanks guys! -Tony |

Can I use the early 944 harness? And if not, will a post 85.5 harness work okay with an early 944 engine?
Thanks a lot for the info! -Tony |
