rear tie downs

Anyone know what to plug the holes left from rear tie downs with? PET doesn't list anything or even the tie downs themselves, at least that I can find. I never bothered to look on any of my previous cars to see what was there but I need to remove these tie downs before I can mount a turbo rear valance to my 87 NA. I don't want to just leave the holes open because they go right into the rear cubbies and they are right in the path of whatever the rear tires splash up from the road.

And anyone know if these are the OEM tie downs all 944's came off the boat with? I've never seen any on any other car and google isn't much help except for aftermarket tie downs. They are quite substantial and the bracket they bolt to is yellow zinced just like every other part on the car so they look like they could be original but who knows.

Any ideas would be appreciated before I go buy a random selection of plugs from the Home Depot to try out.

just use the same bolts that are holding them on? Maybe add a washer of similar thickness?

btw, mine has those. you can see them hanging down in almost every photo, lol

Are yours bent outwards as well? I can't tell if they're supposed to be like that or if mine have been used in the past to pull the car out of a ditch.

And here is a pic of everything once they've been removed. Inside the car is a bracket with 3 studs on it that go through the body and the actual tie down goes outside and 17mm nuts secure it.

Also, anyone care to take a look at their car and see what's supposed to be in this spot? Or what's on your car? These are the holes the brackets go through in the rear cubby things. You can see the sunroof drain in this pic too for placement reference.

no, mine are vertical, though one of them was bent when I got the car (I bent it back straight). I have no idea how they are "supposed" to be....but straight they are more useful if I ever need a backward pull or something.
