Vintage Blaupunkt wiring
Trying to figure out how the wiring will work on a vintage blaupunkt I bought. Coming from an aftermarket late 90s early 2000s radio not the original. I guess I have to wire both speakers on each side to one plug? From what I've found the power antenna has three wires (ground-ignition 12v-constant 12v) Would it operate properly if I wire it to the ignition 12v that will go into the blaupunkt and the constant 12v that is in the radio I have in it now (yellow wire). There is also blue/white wire on the diagram but I don't think I saw it when I pulled the radio. Tips on how to connect two wires together would help also, never done it.

Hello - take a look at the link below to an earlier thread where this is discussed. I'm also attaching a link to one of our DIY tech articles on the process - it has a wiring guide as well. Hope this helps you out a bit.

The diagram is not correct for that radio. What is the model number as it looks like a Bristol. The speaker leads are five bucks for ten on ebay but you will need to solder them.
The male spade on the left should be the chassis ground. Check it with an ohm meter. Post a picture of the front of the unit. If it has a digital display with a clock or memory presets, one lead should be continuous power. It looks like an analog two post unit. Hook 12 volts up to the larger spade in the block and see if the second small post puts out 12 volts when you turn the unit on. Blaupunkt Bristol 24 1984 |

Hook the ignition 12v of your antenna to the small spade on the rear of the head unit.
If your speakers are 8 ohm wiring them in parallel is fine. You should have a fader in the console but + tied together and - tied together will be 4 ohms. If you have modern speakers that are 4 ohm, wire them in series. The negative of the first speaker will be the positive of the second speaker. |
