Driveline Vibration

Posted this on the other site with only one response. Hoping for some further insight:

Hi
Pretty new to the 968 and I have a strange powered vibration if that makes sense. I can feel the vibration through the pedal while disengaging the clutch in low gears and through the shifter. It changes frequency with higher engine speeds and I can feel that it is through the driveline. Throw out bearing? Transmission mount? Engine mounts? Any ideas?

Thanks for looking.

Do you still have the rubber-centered clutch disk in there? If so, it might be going bad.

Dual mass flywheel has a solid center clutch disc if it still has the factory setup.

I have had the exact same problem in my 93 968, still in the process of chasing it down.

Definitely make sure the balance shafts are aligned and that the motor mounts are not shot. In my case, changing the balance shaft and motor mounts helped with engine/shifter vibration but NOT the clutch vibration.

My strong suspicion is that, in my case, it's a TOB and DMF problem. I am in the process of having my clutch swapped out for the RS Barn OEM "green stripe" pressure plate plus new DMF. Very spendy but will be worth it if it does the trick. I have 123k on my car. Will update whether or not this solves it.

Also FYI the Bird is great but you should be on 968forums.com, if you're not already.

Thanks Mzalanka, I look forward to hearing the results of the clutch swap.
