idle?

I noticed something strange with my 85/2 944 na. When slowing down or idling the warning light comes on and the oil pressure light comes on. The oil seems fine. Is it possible that the idle is too low and it's bogging out (ie: about to cut out so the lights come on)? has anyone had this? what is the ideal rpm for the idle?.. mine is about 800. When I push on the gas the oil needle rises and the lights go out.

I turned back the idle about 6 months ago. However, this is a recent issue... dunno.. should probably go to the shop again.

800 rpms should not cause the oil light to come on. What does the oil pressure guage read?

The oil pressure hand goes down to the bottom of the guage. I checked the oil and it seems fine, it isn't low or anything. I'm also wondering if it's related to the cold temperature (i'm in canada). Maybe an oil change would help.

how long as the oil been in the car?it can get thicker (ie.lose its viscosity)with age and if you live in a cold area the oil then can struggle to flow through the engine, also the filter becomes partially blocked,so try an oil and filter change ,the oil pump then does not have to work so hard.

If oil is old it can sludge up and clog the system. If the pressure guage reads low I would worry a little. First I would drain the oil and replace with ATF. Do not drive the car just let the ATF circulate for about 30 mins. If you need to up the idle to maintain enough pressure go ahead. After 30 min drain the ATF and replace with cheap oil and new filter. If pressure does not increase post back there may be other problems. Then after 300-500 miles change oil and filter with something of better qualitity.
