944 S2 clutch options - High HP
It's about time to replace my clutch.
What are my clutch options for a 944 S2 with high (400+) HP ?

Why not just fit a 951 flywheel and bell-housing to the S2 block then you can use the larger 951 clutch or any aftermarket performance clutch designed for a 951.

This is what you need...Awesome clutch and pressure plate for an extremely good price. Had it on my last car and it stuck in every gear soft and smooth like butter!

I will be rebuilding it as a turbo.
400 should be easy. Dfastest on Rennlist got 494 RWHP with 20 year old technology. With newer turbo and engine management technology, 400+ should be easy. Thanks for the clutch ideas. 9FF, the tooth count on the 951 flywheel doesn't work with my engine management system. Sticking with the 60-2 flywheel

Eric,
Lindsey offers a SPEC push-type clutch and a custom 60-2 flywheel to match. Want to say its about 1500 bones for the full setup though. And if you're still running VEMS, there are so many 951s on that ECU that it has to work somehow? |

I am running Microsquirt.
I already had my system in the works when I started helping Peep with US sales. I never got around to having him make me a VEMS system. I will check out the Lindsey setup.

I used Centerforce dual-friction clutch kit on my 300rwhp 951 and it worked extremely well. Previously I had gone to Cup clutch and it only lasted about 55k-miles. Centerforce was only 1/4-worn when I replaced engine at 60K-miles after clutch installation. So I assume it'll be good for 240K-miles.
Nice thing is OEM feel to clutch-pedal. It can handle double factory torque without any problems. Can use in stop-n-go traffic without tiring your leg like other stiffer clutches that only give you 50-60% higher clamping pressure. |
