may buy 944

I was bored the other day and was checking out autotrader and have found two 944's in my area that I feel are good cars to buy. Right now I drive a 98 240sx, which has about 155hp stock but I installed racing headers which remove the cat so It's got about 165hp (Crank). The 240sx is a fun car, it's light (2800lbs), powerful (165hp/165-170lbs torque), and being nissan extremely reliable. To me, the 944 is almost exactly what a 240sx is. Should I look into buying a 944, or will it perform and drive like my 240sx, with twice the cost of maintnance? I appreciate your advice, and the reason I'm looking into the 944 is because I found two that are very tempting.

944 1985 1/2
76,000 miles, red, 5 speed. Water pump, and timing belt changed at 71,000 miles, New tires, Koni adjustable sport shocks all around, 200lb front springs, new clutch at 76,000 miles, new brake pads, Momo steering, new used phone dials. Black Leather interior. Body in good shape, has minor dents on righ hand side. New CD player. Fire extinguisher with mount on passenger seat side.
Have records. AC converted for new gas, but needs recharge. Sunroof motor does not work. $4,000 .

1986 PORSCHE 944, New paint, tires, water pump, brakes, engine recently, rebuilt, over $8000 invested, must sell, $4000 obo

But then again, I do have a 240sx, and to me it seems like the same thing. I would like opinions should I look into a 944, or spent the money on my 911?

IMHO I say continue with the 240. I like both of the cars, but the 240 is way cheaper to build and way less piss (if done right that is). I would much rather see you drop the 4000 in an SR20DET then a 944 n/a. I rode in an sr powered s13 a few days ago and I LOVED IT! Get an sr20 and the Z brakes and you should be set, and I wouldn't think that would be over 4k!

BTW-that set up would just require suspension (I like Tein or JIC personally) and you would be SMOKING 951s!

Why not get a 951? How much is your 240 worth?

I'd much rather see you drop the $4000 on a 951 then you would be smoking Z06s!!
