Earl, I would highly reccomdend getting the kricket tool. Bruce Arnn sells an entire tool set with everthing you need to do front end maintenance for $100 shipped. Check his stuff out at www.arnnworx.com

There have been many side by side comparisons and the kricket does just as well as the 9201 and is pretty much accepted as a substitute for the 9201. If you don't get any replies here about getting one check out ebay, they pop up now and then.

sounds good, the only thing i dont like about the krikit is that the reading we need is so low on the scale actually off of the scale.
if there have been many side by side comparisons then ill stick with it.

40 lbs for the timing belt and 27 for the balance shaft belt. It does look like 27 is just slightly off the scale.

I hope your search for the P9201 is successful. i purchased my used p9201 the same way you are trying. A past 944 owner who currently owns a 911 responded to my ad. i think I payed $365 for the tool with the calibration bar. the tool was in brand new condition with no wear!!
The cheapest price i found for a new p9201 was from Sunset Porsche. They quoted around $500 when everybody else wanted $650. E-mail for Sunset is porscheparts@*************.com
Phone # is 1.800.346.0182
I held out for the right tool and I am glad i did. If I ever sell it I can most likely get near what I payed for it.

happy shopping!!
