How many miles are on your tranny? Are you willing to sell it and for how much? You could then just buy an s2 tranny.

The non turbos boxes with lsd usually go between $1500 and 2k.

Sorry there was supposed to be a space in there. I meant non turbo "S" boxes. The S boxes are stronger and worth more.

Gary,

Check your source. The 86, 87, and early 88 turbo trans are not the same as the later years. They even have a different part number. The s2 and Turbo S(late 88 and 89) got a hardened 1st and 2nd gear along with a stronger r&p. Thus making the later Turbo S and s2 boxes worth more.

I'll get back with you on Monday in regards to your parts. I should know if I have mine sold this weekend. Do you have any intrest in a trade for my 86 turbo lsd box?

Check out this link here since you don't believe me. FYI.. I don't talk just to talk, so if I'm saying something then it's probably not bs and is worth listening to. I've done a lot of research and have first hand knowledge on this subject.

well-you learn something everyday. I think you just had a typo when you stated that a "non-turbo "S" box is better than a S2 or turbo box." Anyway thanks for the info!

I know where you're coming from and I thought the same but we're try different ideas on the 968 and I have the gear chart and the rin and pinion for the 944, 944S2 , Turbo ,and the 968 they are at work I'll bring them home and post them. The one thing it did say (factory manuals) that the Turbo trannys were all the same and that the "S" was also the same. I'd love to know what to put in the 968 6Speed is just to many gear to remember I guess I'm getting old.

Por951turbo is correct about the "S" trans being different. You can tell it apart by the AOR code on the top of the case. It has a hardened input shaft, hardened first and second gears, and several parts in the carrier are heavier duty. It of course is LSD and has the cooler.

OK now what would you put up to a 968, an early 944 has a 3.880 final drive,an S2 has a 3.875, and a Turbo has a 3.335. Seems to me that a plan old 944 or 924S with the 5th gear would work the best, what do you think?
