Porsche 944 no turbo repair question

hi everyone last week i bought to my cousing a 944 from 86 no turbo the car was keeping in the garaje for 2 years cause one day he was driving and one of the Hidraluic lifters miss a piece from Inside and hit the valve and bend he took out the block and took it the chop and the chance the valve and repair all the damage okk but now I have the car and my question is this the car has 160000 miles and the valve cover is not on the engine a got to put iit back but i don belive i chouldnt take the same timing belt the balace belt the 4 rollers from the timing belt and what do you think about the water pump all seal please tell me what do you think a i have to chance to stard good what else do you recomend me to do before star the engine i am new with porsche so i need sorry about my English "cause i am cuban and i starded to study 2 year ago bye help me please

change everything

change the water pump
change all belts
change all rollers
change all seals

your english is very good for only studying it for 2 years!

Hi, it might be easier to just buy a good running engine and change out motors. If you put your engine back together and do something wrong you could end up causing some damage and would have to pull the head and fixing some bent valves again. 166 thousand miles is not terrible but it is still alot of miles on a motor. You could spend alot of time and money on this engine, get it running and then have a lower motor failure in the near future. Just a thought.

As Zedsn said, because the n/a 944 engines are easy to come by just find another complete good working engine so you have a less possibliity of making a mistake of a repairing the old engine.

Good luck!! and if you have any questions always ask us before you try to fix witout knowing. There are many people here who know the correct way of repairing your problem.
