fs: 951 engine and trans *** price drop ***
have the engine and the trans out of an 87 turbo that has 118,000 miles on them. Story is that the car sat for 2 years and then the PO sold the car to me. Before he sold it he took it to a Porsche certified mechanic to get the internals checked out. The bill for this was around $400 and they checked the gas in the tank and spun it by hand before finally firing it up. The shop checked the engine and found no problems. I drove the car onto my trailer and brought it home. I fired it up 1 time at home and drove it through all the gears just to make sure that it all worked (I didn't run too long or hard at all for fear of a dry rotted timing belt). The shop told the PO the compression numbers were good but they didn't document this. I would like $1350 for the long block and $550 for the turbo trans (non-lsd)

turbo eng. & trans
Do you still have the stuff for sale ?

mhart 12-07-2007 12:38 PM

Do you by any chance have compression and/or leakdown numbers on the engine?

Does it include the wiring harness and DME/KLR as well? Thank you very much

plyhammer 12-07-2007 05:16 PM

trans is sold
engine doesn't include the harness/dme, or klr ( however the later two are on ebay right now)

The engine was checked out before I got it and got a clean bill of health but I do not have a leak down or compression numbers per say.

Would this engine fit in a 87 924s body?? if so I'd be interested.

mhart 12-10-2007 05:27 PM

should fit...that's why I'm an interested in it

course if there's no way to make it fit, that's something i'd be very interested in finding out before i were to invest in it haha

plyhammer 12-10-2007 07:54 PM

Not sure what you would all have to do to get it to work. As for fitting, yes. Working is another story, one that I don't have an answer to.

mhart 12-11-2007 07:25 PM

thanks...looking through the forums, it seems like the biggest fitment issue would be the intercooler...not sure of the solution yet on that one though

also it looks like one would need to wire up a KLR and swap out the n/a dme to make it work

plyhammer 12-12-2007 03:12 AM

that makes sense to me.

plyhammer 12-12-2007 10:53 AM

price update: I will be pulling it in the next day or two so will take $1200 for the engine at this poiunt.

plyhammer 12-16-2007 09:03 PM

Any offers on the long block before it goes to the auction tomorrow? Thanks

KaptKaos 12-16-2007 10:26 PM

Do you by chance have the alloy spare tire for sale? Please let me know.

plyhammer 12-17-2007 09:21 AM

Engine is posted to the auction site with a no reserve starting bid at $699.

xsboost90 12-17-2007 05:46 PM

intercooler will fit under the stock n/a nose- you just have to trim a brace along the inside of the nose itself.

plyhammer 12-17-2007 06:56 PM

Thanks for clearing that up Dan. I was wondering if it would have to be relocated myself.
