Hi Herbert,
I got this car already wrecked from a lady in Semmes, AL. There were no records of any kind included with the car and she had just bought it herself a short while ago. It was sold with the mileage exempt but the odometer shows 211k. When I was taking the car apart it seemed to me to be a lower mileage car than that. I've parted a good number of turbo cars and the compression numbers on this motor are excellent and consistent. I have a video of the car running prior to disassembly. While the motor was out it would be a good idea I am sure to redo the timing belt/water pump etc as it is all so much easier to get to. Most of the time when you buy a 944 that is on the short list of maintenance needed though as most folks avoid that expense
-Josh

Just had the shop contact me that last worked on this car. Pretty amazing thing - they saw this thread and went out of their way to get in touch with me. Anyways, according to Robert over there the car's mileage is probably correct. He shows that the timing belt and water pump were last done in October of 06 when the car had 202k on it. The rod bearings and various seals including the oil pan were done in July of 01 at 158k. His impression was that the car had a lot of highway miles on it and that the previous previous owner that used his shop was very attentive to the service needs it had. The clutch was replaced in Nov of 02 and I think he said the mileage on that was 158k as well although that doesn't quite add up if the car had the same mileage in July of 01 unless it wasn't driven that much then. Also has newer speed and reference sensors as well as cap and rotor.

Out of curiosity how fast was the car traveling that hit the porsche?? I you ever heard. Hopefully there was not a passenger at the time of impact.

Hey Steve,
Don't know how fast it was going. It was a 16 year old kid driving and his girfriend in the passenger seat. I understand that her injuries were not life threatening but don't know any details beyond that. It was a really hard hit for sure.

Would you be happy to cut up the tub? I need the rear centre part where the hatch pins go in. It is rusted out on mine and i need to replace the complete lot including the receivers and associated rubber - see attached pictures.

Wow - that is some serious rust. I've already scrapped that body but maybe on the second parts car that I have I can cut that out. I don't imagine that shipping would be cheap across the pond though.

Thank you Josh. I have parts shipped from the US all the time, and with USPS the price is not so bad. The price you set on the part is the deciding factor really.
What I need is:
.- the external sheet metal that stretches between the two seams at the back and contains the rusted out parts on my car.
.- The receivers and associated hardware (and the rubber bushings.
.- If you have them, the latches that are on the deck would be good as well.

If you have these parts, what price would you like for them?
